Leanne Williams

Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University and Researcher for VA Palo Alto Sierra-Pacific MIRECC

Dr. Williams is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, with a joint appointment at the VA Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC). She directs the PanLab, based at Stanford and the VA. Her research programs are developing a novel model for understanding, with precision, the individual brain circuit dysfunctions that give rise to the experience of mood, anxiety, attention and substance use disorders. With this circuit-informed model, interventions are tailored for each person. She integrates data from multiple brain imaging modalities with information from genetics, behavior testing and symptom reports, in multi-diagnostic samples. Brain-behavior and symptom measures serve as targets for engagement in intervention studies. She contributes her translational neuroscience and precision mental health expertise to the NeuroChoice initiative.
