Elenore Sturko
Elenore Sturko is an independent member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. She s the former Shadow Minister for Public Safety & Solicitor General and former Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Addiction & Recovery. Her relentless advocacy against harmful drug decriminalization and "safe supply" policies played a key role in forcing the Government of British Columbia to end both policy directives. As a person in recovery herself, Elenore advances recovery-focused policies for people with mental illness, brain injury and addiction issues, calls for tougher sentences for drug traffickers and kingpins, and for solutions to stop the flow of precursors, and drugs into and out of Canada. Prior to running for office, Elenore was a police officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, often dealing with people battling addiction who desperately needed to get off the streets and into recovery. She also locked up drug traffickers who preyed on vulnerable people with addiction. Elenore has been published in the National Post and has appeared in films and documentaries about addiction and public safety, and participated in numerous radio and television programs.
