Bonnie Halpern-Felsher

Professor of Pediatrics and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy at Stanford University

A Professor of Pediatrics with a courtesy appointment in Health Research and Policy, Dr. Halpern-Felsher examines cognitive, psychosocial and environmental predictors of adolescent and young adult substance use. While the majority of her research has focused on the perceptions and misperceptions of substance-related risks and benefits that predict substance use, she also examines how marketing and counter marketing influence such perceptions and ultimately the initiation and continuation of substance use. Her research informs policy at the state and federal level, and informs the development of prevention curricula aimed at reducing and preventing adolescent and young adult substance use. She is currently funded by the NIH, TRDRP and CVS Health Foundation.
